CASE STUDY – ABERDEEN

Client Brief

Having recently moved into the house the client wanted to put her own stamp on the home.  The kitchen was part of a larger project undertaken by Denmore which also included bathrooms and bedrooms.

The existing kitchen opened into a large extension which included a living and dining space but although open plan the kitchen had a lack of connection and flow.  The client enjoyed entertaining, and the kitchen was to become the heart of the home so it needed to have a real visual impact.  The kitchen was to be incorporated into the existing space which had limitations in size.  A casual dining area, island and various cooking facilities were on the wish list ultimately creating a functional space but with a real wow factor.

Solution

The plans presented were beyond anything that the client had envisaged as they found it difficult to see past what was existing, which included furniture on most of the walls in the space.  Treating the space as a totally blank canvas we took onboard the brief and completely changed the layout and style of the room.

Having overcome the limitations and restrictions using clever design, material choice and taking advantage of our manufacturers bespoke options with the furniture, a statement kitchen was created completely contrasting to what was existing.  A breakfast bar table was incorporated to connect the kitchen into the rest of the space and the desired island provided a social space to prepare and serve food whilst entertaining.

Material choice was extremely important and the use of Dekton Worktops and full splashbacks alongside mirrors added to the luxury feel of this kitchen.  A tall bank housed the required cooking facilities as well as fridge/freezer and larder, which along with multiple drawers provided the client with a generous amount of accessible storage.  Using bespoke height furniture allowed us to take advantage of the ceiling height as well as sitting in proportion with the space.

The completed kitchen is a real eye catching piece.  Clever use of design and materials were at the forefront in the success of reinventing the space creating a kitchen which the client can be proud of.
