CASE STUDY – ABERDEENSHIRE

Client Brief

Although there was nothing functionally wrong with the traditional wood L-shape kitchen with dining table in the middle a minimal look would be more to their taste. The clients wanted a statement kitchen to compliment the stunning, vaulted ceiling space with views over the Aberdeenshire countryside.

A contemporary modern look with dark colours to contrast the bright open room and if possible an island, dining area and  media wall to fit in with the  existing family area furniture.

Solution

We decided on a linear design along one wall focusing on symmetry, depth and height variations also maximising height of the furniture, completed with the  use of smart lighting to compliment the shape of the vaulted ceilings.
The sink was centred on the  unit run with a tall bank on either side incorporating a full selection of appliances including oven, microwave, warming drawer, fridge, smart storage solutions, such as pull out internal drawers, recycling units and drawer dividers. The Quooker boiling water tap helped create the minimal, clutter free look the client wanted.
The island dimensions were specific to the flow of the room allowing for a clear walk space between kitchen/dining and family area.
The media wall on the opposite side of the kitchen, complimented the room and pulled both zones together.
Handle-less furniture in matt black was the primary finish which we complimented with a textured feature panel and door this along with the Dekton black worktops and Grey Smoked Mirror give the space depth and interest.
The client  decided to offset the all black look with yellow which has been a very clever eye catching detail making the room feel bright and welcoming!
The space has  been totally transformed into a bold statement space, enjoyed by all the family.
